We will also be selling to local businesses if you need any in bulk amount. Beaver Creek is also hosting anyone that has, or is, starting a local business. This week we are proud to host Love Light Candles. A lot of people ask us how a farm can save money. We personally use a LOT of different apps, programs, and funding. Here are our favorite methods in a nutshell.

Running a farm isn’t always about raising plants and animals. Sometimes it’s about saving money in places you wouldn’t expect. For example, sometimes it’s worth it to engage in the use of apps such as Indeed’s Job Spotter or most definitely GetUpside. If you use the following code, you will get an AMAZING boost on your cash box. Just use this code: https://upside.app.link/JVADF . One of our biggest supporters, Bespoke Post, is also offering a $20 credit for anyone that uses this code: https://www.bespokepost.com/r/bc1ef73a. They offer a wide range of farming, fermenting, smoking, and cooking items that are SURE to give you the edge at your next party or any social gathering. You can also include local artisans that create locally sourced products. We sell herbs, wax, and oils by Kate Scott at Love Light Candles.

Another easy way to save money is by downloading the GetUpide app, using it when you get gas, and reaping their cashback rewards. It’s a super easy reward system that requires you to sign up and check in your location every time you buy gas. If you want to earn more than twice as much every time, use the code below:

This week our topic of importance is reducing waste. On the farm some of the heaviest hitters when it comes to reducing, reusing, and recycling usually don’t have to do with trash. Our favorite is, of course, composting! If it's made of untreated paper, cardboard without wax or plastic coatings, food remains, shredded paper from the office, egg shells, leftovers from landscaping or pruning plants, or even vegetables that have gone bad. Composting is a god-send. All of these things can be composted and turned into a workable fertilizer and soil substitute.

To give you an idea of its effectiveness, we used our very own compost on our asparagus rows this past spring and were still harvesting asparagus a month or more after it's season ended!

Supporting local vendors and artists is a huge part of our business, and, as such, we are happy to announce that Micah Kimber, one of our own, has started his own business endeavor selling comic books! You can follow him at @virginiacomics on Instagram or you can call/text him at 7573090791 with any questions you may have!

Don't forget we also have slots available for volunteers. Need volunteer hours for a club or school? Looking to learn about where your food comes from and how it's produced? Are you just in need of a reason to get outside, maybe burn a few calories? Contact us today if you're interested!
